The orchestra, established in 1989, is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. As part of its ongoing program, the BCO has been providing an educational environment as well as a free symphony orchestra concert series since its establishment. The BCO strives to develop an ongoing interest in various forms of orchestral music in the Bedford community and its surrounding area for musicians and audiences, making its cultural experiences affordable and available to all. The BCO’s music program is known for its diversity, excellence in education, and ability to entertain and connect with an appreciative audience representing a full cross section of area residents.

The Bedford Community Orchestra provides cultural enhancement to Bedford County and its surrounding areas through musical performances and by providing ongoing music education for adults, seniors, and high school youth. The success of the BCO’s program consistently attracts musicians and members from 11 surrounding counties, showing that the results of this program continues to prove itself over a wider geographic range than any other area community ensemble. Our community performances also have a large and dedicated audience.
