Who can join the orchestra?
The Bedford Community Orchestra is an all-volunteer orchestra of professional and amateur musicians who come together to rehearse and perform, sharing music with our community. Our weekly rehearsals focus on improving musicians’ skills in reading, timing, intonation, musicality and interpretation, teamwork, and performance. Rehearsals offer a highly dynamic, positive learning environment where musicians come together to enjoy and share their lifelong interest music.
What do I need to do to join the BcO?
Auditions are not always required to join the BCO, but acceptance is based on your level of playing and whether or not we have an opening. We maintain an active substitute and waitlist and will notify you if a position becomes available.
If you are interested in joining the orchestra, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Please include a summary of your musical experience and any inquiries about playing.
Attendance
In order to give our best performances, attendance at rehearsals is crucial. As scheduling conflicts do occasionally arise, however, it may be necessary for a player to miss a rehearsal. In the event that you cannot attend a rehearsal or do not intend to play one of the concerts, please notify the manager as early as possible beforehand. Wind players are strongly encouraged to recommend a substitute if the manager does not already have one in mind.
Dues
To offset a portion of BCO operating expenses, orchestra players are required to pay a non-refundable annual orchestra membership fee of $50. Dues scholarships are available for those with a financial need.
